The California Society of Radiologic Technologists opposes a bill currently in the Assembly House and Business and Professions Committees that seeks to change long-standing requirements for fluoroscopy certification for licentiates of the healing arts. Proposed language in Assembly Bill 407 would authorize a physician and surgeon, or a doctor of podiatric medicine, to perform fluoroscopy services in a setting that is in compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' Conditions for Coverage relating to radiation safety without fluoroscopy certification. Additionally, it would accept workplace experience as a replacement for continuing education. The bill amends Sections 107110 and 114870 of the California Health and Safety Code.

The CSRT asks you to join us in opposing AB 407. We believe licentiates such as non-radiologist physicians and podiatrists are not qualified to perform fluoroscopy procedures without training, testing and continuing education guidelines in place. We have created a template for you to use on the California Advocacy Action Center.  Please contact your assembly member today to voice your concerns.

Your help with advocating for our patients' safety and our profession are greatly appreciated. Please contact the CSRT with questions and feedback.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Young, MS, RT(T)

CSRT Hires New Management Company

Greetings fellow CSRT members,

I have some exciting and bittersweet news to share with you today. The CSRT has a new  executive management team which started at the beginning of this year. We are delighted to announce Marcel Bourdase, MPA, CAE has joined the CSRT as the new Administrative manager. Marcel and his Association Management team at the Exchange have assumed the day to day management and administration responsibilities for CSRT.

While change can be challenging, we are confident this staffing transition will have little to no impact on you.

You can continue to reach us via email at either [email protected] or [email protected] or call us at the same phone number (415) 278-0441. We do have a new mailing/corporate address which is in Fresno at: CSRT – 4747 N. First Street #140 | Fresno, CA. 93726

I would also like to take a moment and thank Alison Trejo and the entire team at Holland Parlette for the outstanding services and support that they provided to the CSRT and our members over the years.

Stay tuned as we will be announcing upcoming dates for venipuncture and other educational courses as well as the 2019 Annual Meeting, which will be held this Fall in Southern California.

Best regards,

Cheryl Young, MS, RT(T)
