TOPIC: Social media is a prevalent tool that has become more and more popular for the use of organizational outreach. Patient interactions with imaging personnel may foster a social media relationship between the patient and employee. Ethical implications imply both risks and benefits of ‘friending’ one another which can violate protected patient information. The purpose of this presentation is to highlight the uses of social media in medical imaging and the ethical issues one may face.

PRESENTER: Cheryl Young, MS, RT(T) currently works full time as a Program Director at the National University for the Bachelor’s of Science in Radiation Therapy Program. She holds a B.Sc. In Radiation Therapy, a Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education. Her educational interests include research on leadership, roles within radiation therapy departments, and successful leadership traits of individuals working within these departments. Cheryl is also on the CSRT Board of Directors, serving as President-Elect for 2018.
