In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Parelli on Saturday, May 9, 2009, of a terminal illness. He was the Program Director of the Cypress College Radiologic Technology program in Cypress, California. He began his teaching career almost 30 years ago and has been Program Director for the last 22 years.

Bob was the driving force behind the success and reputation of the Cypress College Radiology and Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs. His name was well known all over the State of California, and elsewhere, as a leader in the field of radiology. He has made significant contributions to the California Department of Health Services in establishing safety guidelines for radiology professionals. He also authored several textbooks. Bob was awarded the Cypress College Charger Award as the Outstanding Faculty Member for the 2008-2009 school year.

Bob was an enthusiastic instructor who inspired his students to succeed. He was obviously dedicated to his radiology profession as well as his teaching profession. Bob's family has decided to establish a scholarship in his name that will be awarded to Cypress radiology students through the Cypress College Foundation. If you are interested in making a donation, please send your contribution to Cypress College Foundation, c/o Robert Parelli Scholarship Fund, 9200 Valley View St., Cypress, CA 90630. Checks payable to CC Foundation, and please make a note on the check for: R. Parelli Fund. Bob is survived by his wife, Charne, his children Joey and Dawne, and his four grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and students.
